from russia & central asia

7 March 2008
Hilton Hotel
Athens - Greece

Following up the success of the “Maritime Transportation of Energy” conferences in St. Petersburg in 2004 and 2005 Mare Forum is organising a logical sequel and progress report to the topic of “Maritime Transportation of Energy from Russia and Central Asia - challenges and opportunities”. Mare Forum decided to hold this year’s conference in Athens - Greece.

South Eastern Mediterranean is becoming a more and more important region in the distribution of oil and gas from Russia and Central Asia to Europe.

The Mare Forum 2008 on March 7 is organized back-to-back with EMSA’s board meeting on March 6 in order to create a platform for regulators and shipowners to discuss today’s relevant and current issues.

The conference, bringing together experts from the shipping and energy world will, like all Mare Forum Conferences, offer a focused agenda for policy makers, both from government and industry.

“Maritime Transportation from Russia & Central Asia” offers five distinct strands to this important and useful examination of progress and industrial performance:

1. Energy for Europe - Demand and Supply of Oil and Gas
2. Transportation the key – pipeline potential – ports and terminals development, financing and investing in the Energy Transportation
3. Developing safe shipping - research imperatives
4. Challenging waters - ship operations, environmental concerns
5. A focused Agenda for Policy Makers from Government & Industry

The unique Mare Forum format that emphasizes debate and discussion will combine the commercial, political and business into a hot mix of topics, relevant to both the maritime and energy industries. Maritime Transportation of Energy 2008 will offer a free-flowing debate and give access to all delegates to actively participate, contribute and learn.

If you are interested in oil, gas, ships, trade, money, environment, and how they match up today and tomorrow, be in Athens on March 7, 2008.

We look forward to welcoming you there.
