Conference goal:

To identify major marine transportation issues, which must be managed by government and industry with the attempt to meet the short and long-term needs of China’s increasingly consumer and industry driven import and export market.
The conference will provide attendees with the opportunity to debate the issues with policy makers from industry and government, as well as to learn from the experience of others on how to do business in China.

The issue:
How the international and Chinese maritime industries will meet the demands of Economic Growth in China? In years to come, China will inevitably become one of the world’s largest consumer forces.
Marine transportation of wet & dry bulk, containers and other products is essential to the viability of China’s internal & external trade.

China has the potential to become a shipowner’s one-stop shop. The number of shipowners turning to China’s Shipbuilding Industry with newbuilding orders continuously increases, while the quality of China’s ship-recycling industry offers a more responsible alternative to international shipping companies seeking to avoid the bad publicity linked to sub-standard scrapping.

The volume of cargo will continue to grow in order to meet growing demand. New  shipping projects, such as the recently announced tanker fleet collaboration between China Shipping Group, COSCO, China Merchants Group and China Changjiang National Shipping Group’s Nanjing Tanker Corp working with PetroChina and Sinopec, together with port infrastructure developments are designed to increase China's future shipping capacity.

The Forum organized by TradeWinds and Mare Forum will examine the many factors that will influence the way in which the trade and maritime industries will attempt to meet demand created by these circumstances.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Shanghai,
